Palestinians protest Biden’s visit to West Bank

Ramallah, Jul 15 (Prensa Latina) Numerous Palestinians took to the streets in the occupied territories to reject the visit by US President Joe Biden, who was received by his counterpart Mahmoud Abbas in the West Bank city of Bethlehem this Friday.

On Thursday evening, dozens of citizens staged a sit-in in central Al-Manara Square in Ramallah, to denounce Washington’s bias in favor of Israel.

During the protest, the participants raised banners and chanted slogans against the president’s arrival and his administration’s positions.

This demonstration is a very clear message against the visit and its results because they are a danger to the Palestinian cause and the Arab region in general, Issam Bakr, one of its organizers, said.

Upon starting his first Middle East tour as president two days ago, Biden said that the two-state solution is the best way to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, but emphasized that it is not visible on the near horizon.

Arab media agree that the Palestinian issue is on the background of Biden’s agenda. He aims to address security issues, Israel’s insertion in the region, Iran’s nuclear program and increased oil production.
