Such an appeal of the government head comes after 17 people were killed by the Islamist militia in the last hours in that territory, among them three civilians and several soldiers.

Residents told the media that the violent incidents took place in the villages of Yeed and Aato.

In order to stabilize the situation in the Bakol region, Abdi Barre also said that the Executive will send humanitarian aid to the affected villages and Washago village.

Al-Shabab insurgent formation, not only keeps the Bakol region under siege since 2012, but, after its expulsion from Mogadishu in previous years, controls large areas in the center and south of this territory.
