United States withdraws war material from Syria to Iraq

Damascus, Jul 22 (Prensa Latina) A US convoy consisting of 156 vehicles and trucks on Friday left from an illegal Pentagon enclave in Syria to Iraq, activists quoted by SANA news agency reported.

The caravan included 40 containers and more than 50 trucks loaded with war material, cannons, disarticulated Hummer vehicles and mega gadgets covered with tent fabric, the sources detailed.

They clarified that the column left the US air base in Kharab al-Jir, accompanied by 25 armored vehicles, and entered Iraqi territory through the illegal al-Walid border crossing.

According to the media, the military convoy is moving defective weapons and vehicles to its main bases in Iraq to replace them with new ones, while trucks leave and enter the Syrian territories loaded with food, medicine and other logistical materials.

The United States has at least a dozen bases in Syria, mostly in the oil and gas fields in the northeastern region of al-Jazeera, mainly in al-Hasaka, while it maintains one base in the al-Tanef area, bordering Iraq, to prevent any land communication between these two countries.

Damascus has repeatedly denounced the illegal presence of US troops, which it described as an occupation, and claimed that the Pentagon’s actions in Syria encourage the terrorist activity and aim to destabilize the country and loot its wealth.
