El Salvador authorities fighting human traffickers

San Salvador, Jul 24 (Prensa Latina) Authorities in El Salvador arrested more than 300 individuals last year accused of illegal human trafficking, local media reported today.

Among the security measures implemented by the government, from June 2021 to May 2022, are different operational plans carried out on the country’s land borders, El Salvador newspaper reported.

According to the work report of the Security Ministry, 302 people associated with human trafficking and smuggling were arrested as a result of these actions.

In their operations, the criminals deceived their victims by offering them “help” and promised them that they could take them out of the country by providing them with the route, guides and vehicles to transport them, the prosecutor’s office reported.

The judicial entity reported that an amount of 944,126 dollars, eight vehicles, and financial products such as deposits and savings accounts were seized from one of the groups dedicated to these illegal activities.

Prosecutors added that a total of 23 women were captured in 2021, for carrying several people illegally to the United States.
