The survey, conducted between July 20 and July 22, showed that 47 percent of those polled marked in the box, while 39 percent showed their approval for the new Constitution, which replaces the 1980 Constitution drafted by the military junta of dictator Augusto Pinochet.
In spite of the results, several analysts agree that the Constitution is gaining supporters among citizens, since the defenders of this alternative have increased two percentage points, while those who reject the new Constitution have decreased five points during the period of analysis.
This is coupled, according to survey data, with the growth popularity of the country’s president, Gabriel Boric, who openly supports the new Constitution.
In addition, there are still many undecided people (14 percent), a factor that could be decisive at the polls for the plebiscite on September 4, when Chileans will vote in favor or against the new Constitution.
