Immigration obstacles affect tour of Cuba’s Aragon Orchestra in US

havana, Aug 1 (Prensa Latina) Cuba's emblematic Aragon Orchestra had to postpone its tour of the United States and Puerto Rico due to setbacks with the process of visa procedures at the US Embassy in Havana.

In an exclusive interview with Prensa Latina, musician Rafael Lay (Jr) assured that the negotiations will continue in the coming days on the basis of the Embassy’s schedule of interviews, and the new dates of the tour will be announced in due time, after the interview process is over.

The violinist and director of the orchestra, which was founded on September 30, 1939, by Orestes Aragon, recalled that the tour was originally scheduled from August 18 to 28, together with the Ignacio Piñeiro National Septet, with stops in the US cities of New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco and Puerto Rico’s capital, San Juan.

The interruption of the tour triggered the response of dozens of followers on social networks who denounced the impact of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States, from which culture does not escape, and deprives audiences from other nations of fully enjoying Cuban artistic expressions.
