Moscow, Aug 1 (Prensa Latina) Russia's presidential spokesman, Dmitri Peskov, announced that welcomes the departure of the first ship transporting Ukrainian cereals from the port of Odessa.

“The departure of the first ship is a very positive event. It is a good opportunity to test the effectiveness of the mechanisms agreed upon in the negotiations in Istanbul,” the spokesman told reporters.

Peskov also expressed his hope that all the achievements reached during the four-party negotiations will be carried out.

The Department of Strategic Communications of the Ukrainian Armed Forces confirmed the information that the first ship had left the port of Odessa for Turkey.

For its part, the Turkish Ministry of Defense also notified the fact and added that it is the dry cargo ship Razoni under the flag of Sierra Leone, transporting more than 26 thousand tons of grain and headed to Tripoli, Lebanon.
