The head of the Baalbek-Hermel parliamentary bloc, Hussein Hajj Hassan, denounced that US officials and some Lebanese and Arabs are trying to impose an equation to convince the people that the resistance is the cause of the economic crisis.
On this idea, the MP blamed the political and economic systems and corruption as the main factors for dragging the nation to the current situation with four out of five Lebanese in poverty, according to UN data.
Hassan stressed that the United States prevents Lebanon from extracting oil and gas from its sea amid the great need to benefit from such resources to get out of the economic crisis.
In this regard, the head of the Tyre scholars meeting, Sheikh Ali Yassin stressed that stopping the country from investing in its oil wealth for any reason constitutes a blow to sovereignty and in light of the collapse represents a threat to the state body.
Yassin called for not giving in to the US procrastination by delaying the start of the exercise of Lebanon’s right to extract oil and gas; in addition to demanding the prompt formation of the government and avoiding private interests and foreign bets.
