Mexico: package of measures against inflation is working successfully

Mexico City, Aug 2 (Prensa Latina) The package against inflation and high prices signed with companies in Mexico is performing well because the basic food basket has stabilized, Rogelio Ramírez de la Obrador, Secretary of Finance, said.

In a report at President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s morning conference at the National Palace, the official assured that Mexico’s inflation is lower than in the United States.

His colleague Víctor Manuel Villalobos, Secretary of Agriculture, highlighted the production projections for this year, of items related to the basic food basket and mentioned the Fertilizers for Wellbeing program.

He announced that the states of Guerrero and Morelos, important food producers, are already 100% covered and mentioned an increase in the production of grains, such as corn, in addition to the production of organic fertilizers.

The general director of Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex), Octavio Romero, informed of the fertilizer program of that company whose plants were privatized in 1992 and recovered in 2020, returned to production, especially that of agronitrogenates.

Leonel Cota Montaño, head of Mexican Food Security guaranteed the supply of corn, beans and other grains, and highlighted the acquisition of powdered milk from abroad.

López Obrador affirmed that with the measures being implemented, they are guaranteeing that there will be control over price increases.
