Uruguay’s budget accountability enters final stretch

camara-diputados-uruguay
Montevideo, Aug 2 (Prensa Latina) The controversial Budget Accountability in Uruguay has entered the final stretch of the parliamentary study on Tuesday, in which the ministries in urgent need of resources and crucial issues will report on.

The Finance Commission of the Chamber of Deputies expects to receive this Tuesday the Ministry of Social Development, the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Administration of State Health Services.

However, the call of another of the so-called “heavy” items is still pending, such is the case of the Ministry of the Interior, which, along with the Ministry of Defense, is among the most benefited by budget proposals, at the expense of cuts in other areas.

Before that, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs focused on the agreement with its Chinese counterpart to move towards a trade agreement and the consequent international trade insertion of the country, consular attention and assistance, and border policy, among other derivations.

According to pro-government lawmaker Alvaro Viviano, president of the Commission, there are few pending issues, but they are difficult to agree on, such as the Bill for a privatization government-oriented media and a new regulation for the granting of medical licenses.

Meanwhile, the Senate is preparing for an extensive simultaneous debate on the bill for the legal status of the unions, which received critical remarks from the PIT-CNT trade union due to its interfering aspects.
