Foreign ministers of Russia and Turkey analyze conflict in Ukraine

Moscow, Aug 3 (Prensa Latina) Foreign ministers of Russia and Turkey, Sergey Lavrov and Mevlut Cavusoglu, today analyzed the situation in Ukraine, the implementation of the Istanbul agreements on the export of Ukrainian grain, as well as the Syrian settlement.

The Russian Foreign Ministry informed that the meeting between the heads took place in the Cambodian capital on the sidelines of the meeting at the level of foreign ministers Russia – Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean), to be held on August 4-5.

An in-depth exchange of views was held on the international and regional agenda, primarily on the situation in Ukraine. The implementation of the package agreements reached on July 22 in Istanbul and the promotion of Russian food and fertilizer exports was considered,” the Foreign Ministry reported.

In addition, the sides also discussed the settlement problems in Syria, and Turkish solutions to the situation.

Lavrov and Cavusoglu further discussed negotiations between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan, scheduled for August 5.

“In the context of preparations for the upcoming contacts at the highest level, the topical issues and prospects of Russian-Turkish cooperation, primarily in the trade and economic sphere, were considered in detail,” the diplomatic department added.

On July 22, a package of documents was signed in Istanbul by Russia, Ukraine, Turkey and the United Nations to solve the problem of food and fertilizer supplies to world markets.

The memorandum between Moscow and the UN stipulates that the international body is involved in the work to eliminate anti-Russian restrictions which prevent the export of agricultural products and fertilizers.
