According to the Weekly Technical Report of Epidemiological Surveillance on this disease, the positive cases were confirmed by the Institute of Epidemiological Diagnosis and Reference and are distributed in 15 institutions including Mexico City, Jalisco and Nuevo Leon among the prominent ones.

Of the 236 cases identified that meet the operational definition, 50 are under study and 95 have been ruled out by laboratory diagnosis, and no deaths secondary to the disease have been reported.

It states that 92% of the affected persons are male and 8,0% are female, and almost half of them are between 30 and 39 years old.

The secretariat indicates that the disease can be prevented by avoiding direct physical contact with sick or suspicious persons, as well as with objects of personal use and materials used for medical care. Hand washing with soap and water or the use of antibacterial gel is recommended.
