This was reaffirmed by the head of that military institution, Air Force Colonel Efrén Alejandro Marín, during the central act in salute to the 43rd anniversary of the founding of that uniformed corps, held last night.
In this sense, he emphasized the satisfactory fulfillment of their tasks, highlighting throughout this year some 2,206 missions in which the air units carried out 1,644 flight hours and transported 2,5 thousand people, in addition to 173,493 pounds of cargo.
At the ceremony, attended by President Daniel Ortega and Vice President Rosario Murillo, Marín referred to the training process for air traffic control officers and highlighted the certification of eight officers by the Central American Institute for Aeronautical Training in El Salvador. For his part, the Commander-in-Chief of the Nicaraguan Army, Army General Julio César Avilés, highlighted the steadfastness and loyalty of the soldiers who have been part of the Nicaraguan Air Force for more than four decades.
The members of the Nicaraguan Army Air Force received recognition from their superior chief, while President Daniel Ortega awarded decorations and distinctions to outstanding officers of the military institution founded on July 31, 1979.
