The state-owned Agencia Brasil indicates that the 34 political organizations registered in the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) were released to hold their national meetings as of July 20.

According to the Calendar of Elections 2022, after the names that will dispute a position were defined, the parties, federations and coalitions will have until August 15 to request the registration of the candidacies. In the case of party federations, the convention must take place in a unified manner, with the participation of all member parties.

Until Thursday morning, only four candidates for the presidency of the Republic had registered their candidacies in the TSE.

More than 156 million Brazilians are eligible to vote on October 2, to elect the next President of the Republic, in addition to governors, senators, and federal, state and district lawmakers.

To date, former President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva leads all opinion polls for the next elections, in which ultra-right President Jair Bolsonaro will intend a reelection.
