Gustavo Petro welcomed Gabriel Boric at the presidential house and following a private meeting both leaders told the press about giving fresh impetus to the Andean Community of Nations, peace in Colombia, regional integrations, among other issues.
We´ve talked in particular about giving a fresh impetus to the Andean Community (AC), an issue built several decades ago between both nations (…) strengthening the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) and being closely related to concrete integration processes, Petro stressed.
“We´ve talked about peace, Chile is guarantor country according to the Santos government´s protocols… And we hope it continues to be a guarantor nations for peace that is about to remerge “with the National Liberation Army (ELN), Petro explained.
Both leaders also debated on indigenous issue, Colombian experience that is still incomplete but all-important for indigenous peoples´ dignity, about placing the Colombian ethnic diversity as a subject of law.
“We told the Colombian government our willingness to collaborate in whatever it deems may be most useful, and that is limited, for now, to continuing with what had been indicated under Michelle Bachelet´s administration (2006-2010 and 2014-2018), which is to be one of guarantor countries.” pll/mem/otf
