Continental Solidarity Network calls regional movements to aid Cuba

San José, Aug 8 (Prensa Latina) Latin American and Caribbean movements, coordinators, groups and committees in solidarity with Cuba are called to aid Cuba with supplies and medicines in order to treat those people affected by the Matanzas deadly fire.

The Latin American and Caribbean Continental Network of Solidarity with Cuba and Just Causes -made up of regional organizations- said in a statement they will support Cuba, especially Matanzas inhabitants.

The Continental Network offered its deepest condolences to the victim´s relatives and to those who disappeared amid the incident, while highlighting its confidence in the fire squad´s capacity to put out the fire, a mission in which they have been supported by Mexican and Venezuelan specialists since past Saturday.

“In the same way, we are totally certain that, with the Cuban government´s and people´s unity and organization they will be able to successfully overcome this contingency,” according to a solidarity message.

We, Latin American and Caribbean friends of Cuba, are called to aid Cuba with our solidarity actions in face of supply and medicine assistance for treating all fire-affected people.

The Continental Network thinks the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC, in Spanish) must create immediate and supportive actions to assist regional nations in face of catastrophes and disasters, such as the one in Matanzas.
