Work is being done throughout the country, with emphasis on 71 municipalities at the highest risk, but results, although intense, are not as expected.

First Deputy Public Health Minister Tania Margarita Cruz informed that in risk areas, the focal cycle is 99.5-percent complete and 28,850 vector foci have been detected, accounting for 84.6 percent of the Aedes aegypti mosquito foci reported in the country.

Thirteen provinces and the Isla de la Juventud (Isle of Youth) special municipality reported an increased incidence rate compared to the previous week.

The highest increase was reported in the provinces of Havana, Holguin, Camagüey, Santiago de Cuba, Sancti Spiritus, Las Tunas, Matanzas and Cienfuegos, Cruz explained, according to Granma newspaper.
