The second initiative involves in holding public hearings in Tibú in face of the humanitarian crisis in this municipality, reopening the border for a better quality of life in bordering communities, Flórez tweeted.

Colombian President Gustavo Petro claimed that one of its administration´s actions will be to reestablish bilateral relations with Venezuela and also to work on the common border.

Prior to his inauguration, Colombian Foreign Minister Álvaro Leyva met with his Venezuelan counterpart Carlos Faria in the state of Táchira, where both high-ranking officials expressed their willingness to make headway to a work agenda for gradual normalization of bilateral relations, while expressing the need to review bilateral interest issues and to guarantee peace on the common border.
