According to local television, the three flights completed a total of 20 solidarity assistance flights stemming from Mexico (16) and Venezuela (4) in order to provide Cuba with specialized personnel, supplies and equipment.
Around 120 experts (firefighters, health workers, oil technicians) from Mexico and Venezuela have arrived in Matanzas to break their backs with the Cuban forces to put out the fire.
Products are critical for these missions such as powerful water pumps, hoses and averagely 45,000 liters of retardant foam to smother the flames, as well as eight breathable air tanks, which allow specialized forces to work in the middle of the smoke.
Matanzas international airport has not stopped its daily operations, but instead it has just multiplied its workers´ efforts to unload all supplies in a few minutes and take them immediately to the oil terminal.
