Cuban President congratulates continental student organization

Havana, Aug 11 (Prensa Latina) The President of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, today congratulated the members of the Continental Latin American and Caribbean Organization of Students (Oclae), which celebrates its 56th anniversary.

“Cuba is proud to be a founding member and headquarters of the organization of Latin American students, always at the forefront among the social movements of Our America,” the president specified on his Twitter account.

For his part, the Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Roberto Morales, stated in the same social network that the organization, vanguard of Latin American and Caribbean students, is “a forge of unity in the construction of a better world”.

In statements to Prensa Latina, the president of Oclae, Leonel Pérez, assured that the challenge today is to fight to reach another possible America.

He expressed that the current challenges focus on the defense of educational public policies for the student movements of the continent.

Likewise, he stated that the projection of the continental organization is aimed at achieving free and quality education, which should be a premise of the governments of many countries.

The 19th Oclae Congress will be in Venezuela next November 16 to 22 and will be dedicated to Ernesto Che Guevara and the centenary of the Cuban University Student Federation, which has chaired the continental organization since 1966.
