The information was offered by the national coordinator of Civil Protection, Laura Velázquez; and the Secretary of Defense, Luis Cresencio Sandoval, at President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s morning press conference.
Both officials said that the water levels in wells 1, 2 and 3 have already dropped, although pumping is still being carried out to lower them even more. The first is already at 1,6 meters, the second at 3,9 and the third at 4,7.
There is no certainty that they are alive after 10 days of being trapped without being discovered by the drones or having any clues as to where they are, or any other data, but there are precedents of miners in the same area who have been trapped for up to 10 days and were rescued alive, although without flooding as in this case, when the waters reached a depth of 34 meters.
President López Obrador said that all investigations are being carried out regarding the owners of the mine, who have not come forward, which was concessioned during the administration of former President Vicente Fox (2000-2006).
