Ukraine denies possibility of peace negotiations with Russia

Kiev, Aug 14 (Prensa Latina) Mykhailo Podoliak, an adviser to the head of the Ukrainian Presidential Office, on Saturday assured that his country lacks motivation to resume negotiations with Russia.

“Negotiations with Moscow will mean only one thing, that Russia has won,” the official said in an interview with Babel.

Podoliak added that Kiev holds talks with Russian authorities exclusively to solve the problem of a prisoners’ exchange, as well as the bodies of the dead.

In this regard, he added that those talks are only restricted to humanitarian issues, “there is no dialogue on military-political issues,” he assured.

Earlier, Aleksander Darchiev, director of the North American department at the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that the Government of the United States should convince Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to return to the negotiating table with Moscow.

Commenting about the issue, the diplomat confirmed that such a decision adopted by Washington would probably be the most optimal one to end the conflict.
