“All cases are male, patients aging 22 to 43 years. Out of 15 patients, eight of them have underlying pathology,” Auza told the press.

Auza added these people have been showing a stable progress, and two of them are in the final stage of the disease. Four of them were infected abroad – three in Brazil and one in Chile – and the other 11 caught the infection in Santa Cruz.

Of the total number of sick people, 30 of them are close contacts, who are being kept under nonstop surveillance according to local health protocol, “in case any symptom shows up”, Auza stated.

Bolivia has to date reported 71 suspected cases, 56 of them have been released and 30 remain hospitalized.
