The Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) reported that for 13 consecutive week no Covid-19 patient has died in Cuba.

Five patients remain in intensive care wards, two are critical and three are seriously ill. The lethality rate since the outbreak of the epidemic is 0.77 percent, which represents 8,529 deaths.

At the end of last week, there was a 17.3-percent-decrease in the number of positive cases, with 127 fewer patients. Likewise, the number of active cases decreased by 84 from one week to the next.

According to Granma newspaper, eastern Holguin province reports the highest incidence of positive cases in the country: 271 in the last 14 days.

Health authorities noted that these results are related to the high rate of immunization in the country.

On August 14, 40,304,608 doses of Cuba’s homegrown Soberana 02, Soberana Plus and Abdala vaccines had been administered in Cuba.

MINSAP added that 9,982,211 people have been fully vaccinated, which accounts for 90.1 percent of the Cuban population, and a total of 7,870,522 have received booster doses.
