In the framework of the second session of the Regional Meeting of Heads of Government of the Caribbean, the leaders agreed to sustain the brotherhood under the inalienable principle of solidarity.

During the meeting, Marrero acknowledged the potentialities of the Caribbean, the communion of interests and cultures, and advocated establishing a more expeditious connection among the nations of the region, the Cuban Presidency wrote on its Twitter account.

On the second day of the regional meeting, participants discussed financial support and technology transfers to address climate change.

On this issue, the Cuban head of government highlighted in his speech the challenges faced by Cuba and the priorities his country gives to environmental care.

Those present at the preparatory meeting for the 27th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27) recently confirmed that the climate crisis requires more ambitious commitments from all developed countries.

The complex scenario the world is going through is aggravated by the impact of climate change, which threatens the very existence of our small island States, the Cuban prime minister reaffirmed on his Twitter account.

In his speech on the first day of the meeting, Marrero confirmed that despite the serious limitations of the blockade imposed by the United States and intensified to extreme levels, Cuba is making progress in the Nationally Determined Contribution, with higher commitments until 2030.

The first regional meeting will conclude on Thursday, and will allow coordinating efforts in favor of environmental care.
