Sri Lanka, Cuba to discuss about health, education and agriculture

Colombo, Aug 17 (Prensa Latina) Sri Lanka and Cuba on Wednesday met to discuss about bilateral relations in health, education and agriculture sectors, during a meeting between new Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena and Cuban Ambassador Andres Gonzalez.

The Cuban ambassador paid an official visit to the newly-appointed Sri Lankan Prime Minister, who welcomed him at his office.

The Prime Minister’s Secretary Anura Dissanayake, Chairwoman of the Sri Lanka-Cuba Friendship Association, also participated in the visit.

Both sides heaped praise on the bilateral relations between the two nations and also debated on a great number of issues aimed at developing ties in different sectors including health, education and agriculture, the Cuban ambassador told Prensa Latina.

Plus, the Sri Lankan Prime Minister thanked his Cuban counterpart Manuel Marrero´s message on the occasion of his inauguration.

Gunawardena praised the Cuban solidarity in trainning Sri Lankan students in their universities, as well as the strong support and exchange between the two countries in international forums.

The Cuban ambassador, on the other hand, highlighted Colombo’s support for resolutions issued every single year at the UN General Assembly against long, bloody blockade imposed by the US government on Cuba for over 60 years.
