“Syria expresses its deep sorrow for the victims and consequences of the fires that have so far claimed the lives of 26 people while dozens have been injured,” the Foreign Ministry reported in a statement published by the SANA news agency.
It also appreciated the efforts made by the government to fight this catastrophe and extended its sincere condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims and wished prompt recovery to the injured.
According to the Algerian authorities, some 40 fires are currently affecting 14 states in the country, having caused road closures as well as life and material losses.
