Dominican Republic reports two new cases of monkeypox

Santo Domingo, Aug 22 (Prensa Latina) The Dominican Ministry of Public Health confirmed two new cases of monkeypox in the Moca and San Cristobal provinces.

The entity highlighted in a press release that the patients, two males 32- and 60-years-old, present presumptive signs and symptoms of the disease.

At the moment they are stable and are receiving the necessary treatment and health care at the Ramón de Lara Military Hospital in the capital.

Two men who were admitted to said center were discharged yesterday, free of the ailment.

The health authorities urged the population to follow the prevention recommendations, not to be alarmed and to remain attentive to the reports on the clinical status of the patients.

The first detected case of the disease was a 25-year-old Dominican established in the United States, on July 6th.
