Damascus, Aug 23 (Prensa Latina) An 11-year-old minor lost his life, and his five siblings were injured, by the explosion of a mine in southern Syria, health authorities reported here.

According to the director of the hospital in the southern province of Deraa, Yehya Kiwan, a remnant explosive device of those planted by terrorist groups exploded in the agricultural lands of the village of Namer in the northwestern part of the province, while the children were playing in the place.

He explained that the five wounded siblings are aged between one and a half and 15 years old and their injuries are serious.

On the 12th of this month, a similar explosion killed a woman and two girls in the same province of Deraa.

According to recent data from the UN anti-mine department in Syria, between 2015 and 2022, about 15,000 people were killed or injured by mines in Syria, i.e. five per day.
