Russia received over 3.6 million refugees from Ukraine and Donbass

Moscow, Aug 24 (Prensa Latina) More than 3.6 million refugees have arrived in Russia from Ukraine and the Donbass region since the hostilities started in February, the TASS agency reported.

The report released by the Russian forces states that out about 560,000 of all displaced people are minors.

Likewise, the institution noted that 33,500 people are staying in governmental lodging points, while the rest are staying in private homes or those of relatives.

Russia’s border control authorities stated on August 19 that half of the displaced persons are nationals from the self-proclaimed Donetsk (DPR) and Lugansk (LPR) People’s Republics, more than one million are Russian citizens and the rest are from other countries.

For its part, the United Nations Refugee Agency reported on its website that more than eight million people left Ukraine due to the military clashes.

The escalation of the evacuation of civilians from Donbass took place in mid-February due to the intensification of Kiev’s bombings of the region with higher caliber weapons.
