Germany approves reducing heating in winter

Berlin, Aug 25 (Prensa Latina) The German government approved reducing heating in public buildings from September, as part of a series of measures aimed at reducing energy consumption.

The measure contemplates that common areas such as corridors, machine rooms and lobbies will not be heated, the television reported in this capital.

In addition, it prohibits night lighting of advertising installations, as well as those buildings and monuments that only require lights for aesthetic or corporate image reasons.

Gas companies and homeowners must inform their customers or tenants about expected energy consumption and possible energy-saving measures, while private individuals may not heat their swimming pools with gas and electricity.

The Minister of Economy, Robert Habeck, stressed the need to make progress in getting independent from the Russian energy supply, given the fear that the situation could become more complicated in the coming winter.

The problems with hydrocarbons in Germany worsened due to the effects of sanctions applied on Russia following the start of the special military operation in Ukraine.
