“Pretoria has spared no effort to support the Syrian position and causes in international forums, and this support is still maintained thanks to our strong ties,” Jaafari told the press after a session of talks held with Dlamini.
He added that Dlamini’s visit shows the good state of relations and that the geographical distance does not prevent cooperation in foreign policy fields.
“With South Africa, just like with some South American countries, we have managed to overcome the factor of geographical distance”, the diplomat said.
As he revealed, the contacts are intense and there is excellent cooperation between the two countries.
For his part, Dlamini affirmed that his country maintains firm support for the Syrian government and people and their right to defend their sovereignty and territorial integrity and combat terrorism.
He denounced the sanctions imposed on the Syrian people and considered that they violate international law. He also described Syria’s role in the Middle East as key and thanked the government for the support it constantly provides to the Republic of South Africa.
