The note, published in the electronic newspaper Cubadebate, specified that the number of Cuban economic actors grew to 12,486, the highest figure ever.
It added that although micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) are the main responsible for this increase, the behavior of state-owned companies provides interesting elements.
The list includes state enterprises, trading companies, MSMEs, cooperatives and budgeted units, while self-employed workers, joint ventures and other forms of international economic associations operating on the island are left out.
The significant increase in the number of institutions is observed as of 2021, when for the first time since 2015 a five-digit number (10,010) was recorded, propitiated mainly by the appearance of MSMEs -270 in its first year of approval-, a much more visible jump at the end of last June, with the debut of another 2,440.
