The fifth event of the year occurred at 19.71 degrees north latitude and 75.41 west longitude, at a depth of 21 kilometers. The perceptibility reports are located in the provinces of Santiago de Cuba and Guantanamo, with no signs of human or material damage.
In the biannual summary of the behavior of these natural phenomena, the National Center for Seismological Research, based here, noted that there were no anomalous situations and until then only four perceptible earthquakes had been reported.
The report noted that relative normality was maintained despite the very high telluric occurrence recorded south of the country, specifically southwest of Haiti and linked to the 7.3 magnitude earthquake reported on August 14, 2021.
With location mainly on the Oriente fault, there have b been 3,720 tremors, including 1,470 in the area of Cuba, and March 14 was the day of greatest activity with 22 earth tremors.
