According to a report by the Attorney General’s Office, more than 40 raids were carried out in the provinces of Colon, Panama and Panama Oeste against organized crime structures.
The report indicates that among those arrested were a representative of the municipality, lawyers, port workers and a policeman.
Also arrested were the brother and wife of Eduardo Macea, alias “Marshall”, who is serving a 15-year prison sentence for the crime of aggravated drug possession, the source said.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office also indicated that the organization was dedicated to the reception of large shipments of illicit substances from Colombia, using the Atlantic coast for the storage and custody of the drugs.
Some of the accused, such as Yaritzenia López, Dimas Menchaca and Julio Coronado, led the introduction of drugs into the country for subsequent sale.
According to the prosecutor’s office, these people received the illicit substances in the area of María Chiquita, Colón, and then moved them to the sector known as La Feria, in the same territory.
According to the investigation, Idalia Londoño and Elisa Díaz were added to this group, who received the cargo, but through the area of Santa Isabel, in the Caribbean region.
Meanwhile, Luciano Méndez is alleged to have hidden 103,000 dollars, located in a residence in Don Bosco, Panama.
According to the investigations, ‘Marshall’ gave orders from prison on the operations to be carried out.
The investigation specifies that this group is responsible for a shipment of 640 kilograms of drugs seized in Belgium and another seized in Italy, between 2019 and 2021.
