The 37 member organizations, we proudly announce the completion of solidarity phase-1, involving the batch of food products goal-oriented to hospitals in Havana, according to a communiqué.

In 2021, the CGT Railway Workers launched this initiative, which supported by other unions, managed to collect over €237,000.

Workers from 170 unions, local and departmental unions, regional committees and CGT federations contributed to this solidarity action, as did 148 individual donors, sections of the French Communist Party as well as the Cuba Si France solidarity association.

According to the Containers for Cuba promoters, €76,000 were useful for this first stage, €107,000 for purchasing materials and supplies for the William Soler Children´s Hospital in Havana, and €54,000 for health resources.

In this regard, other containers will be sent to Cuba in coming months.

The French unions capitalized on this information to reaffirm their strong rejection of the economic, commercial and financial US blockade against Cuba, a policy they described as unjust and illegal.

To stifle an entire population is immoral and inhuman, for such a reason the CGT organizations call for French government to do more in opposition to the US blockade and more in favor of its end.
