Two soldiers of unified forces were killed in South Sudan

Juba, Aug 30 (Prensa Latina) Two soldiers who were part of the unified forces of South Sudan, established after a peace agreement, were killed in a traffic accident in the state of Western Bahr el Ghazal, a government source informed on Tuesday.

Wau County Commissioner George Wejok Tunga told local media that both men died after the motorcycle they were riding crashed into a speeding motorized tricycle.

According to the official, the two soldiers were on their way to a military training center, where their integration into the new coalition army was to be made official.

The accident occurred a few hours before the government of national unity joins these forces on Tuesday in several ceremonies, the first batch of 83,000 former members of rebel groups, in order to comply with the revitalized peace agreement of 2018.

Those troops, along with thousands of others, will take over South Sudan’s military and police, during the current transitional period, according to the pact.
