Egypt’s parliament speaker considers food crisis a threat to Africa

Cairo, Sep 2 (Prensa Latina) The food crisis the world is currently experiencing represents an existential threat to Africa, Egypt's parliament speaker Hanafi El-Gibali warned.

Addressing the 11th conference of the speakers of African parliaments, held in South Africa, El-Gibali affirmed that his country “will spare no effort providing all help necessary” to the nations of the region.

We are ready to provide African countries with all possible collaboration to achieve self-sufficiency in food production and speed up economic and social development, he stressed.

About this issue, El-Gibali advocated for drawing up a strategy for regional economic integration.

The politician considered that the continent must adopt urgent measures, among which he cited diversifying sources of food and using technologies in agricultural production.
