Tel Aviv, Sep 5 (Prensa Latina) The Arab-Israeli journalist Nidal Agbaria, known for his denunciations of the crimes plaguing the Arab community, was murdered in the north of Israel, sparking numerous criticisms against the authorities, the Channel 7 reported.

The victim was found last night in his car in the city of Umm al-Fahm after being shot, the source said.

Agbaria, who survived an attack in June 2021, owned the Arabic-language news website Bldtna, which includes comprehensive coverage of crime and violence in said sector of the population, the outlet noted.

The Channel 7 noted that residents gathered at the scene of the crime and accused both the police and the government of allowing the wave of crimes in the Arab sector to continue unchecked.

The Ta’al party, led by MP Ahmad Tibi, lashed out at the police, saying Agbaria provided evidence about the threats on his life.

The left-wing group Hadash made a similar statement, criticizing the incompetence of the police.

A year ago more than 50 rounds were fired at his house when he was with his wife and daughter, although the authorities knew the background that led to the event, they did nothing, a Ta’al party source told the news outlet.

The Israel Journalists Syndicate also called on security officials to “act more vigorously to eradicate the epidemic of violence in Arab society.”
