Employees of a telecommunications company in Lebanon remain on strike

Ogero Libano paro
Beirut, Sep 6 (Prensa Latina) The Unionized employees of Ogero authority on Tuesday continue on strike waiting for a response from the Ministry of Communications in the governmental committee's meeting scheduled for Thursday.

One week after the strike started, the workers of the data, Internet, and broadband services company maintain operations suspended, which affected the telecommunications network.

During an emergency meeting held on Monday, Imad Kreidieh, General Director of Lebanon’s Ogero Telecom, announced the signing by the Ministry of three decrees among their demands: social assistance, transportation subsidy, and aid for two months; while the salary correction due to the high cost of living was pending.

On the same date, residents in the capital city and the southern regions of Hasbaya, Saida, and Nabatiyeh suffered interruptions in landline and 3G cellphone services, which paralyzed the movement of commercial establishments and banks.

Faced with this panorama, the incumbent Government agreed to draw up a plan for the productivity compensation to workers in light of the difficult living conditions.
