This new edition broadens the scope of the information collected by the international organization, by incorporating statistics on different forms of work.
As part of its competencies, the ILO develops international standards in order to improve the analysis of the current labor market, and on this occasion it also emphasizes the incidence of the gender indicator in this panorama.
The ILO report also stressed that the occupation category was more strictly defined as activities carried out in exchange for payment or profit.
Meanwhile, other designations such as productive work for own use, volunteer work and unpaid internships were recognized as other forms of employment.
The report also emphasized that these changes are intended to increase the variety and significance of statistics in the sector and to reflect the labor force more reliably.
