Tension ramps up over Trump´s classified documents at Mar-a-Lago

Washington, Sep 8 (Prensa Latina) The drama of the documents seized by the FBI at former President Donald Trump´s Mar-a-Lago residence could have complex legal, international and political repercussions, local media warned Thursday.

According to The Hill newspaper, classified and intelligence files found at Mar-a-Lago residence make some Republicans tremble and warned the controversy of a possible, still unconfirmed, Trump´s candidacy to the 2024 presidential elections.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) is now facing up the dilemma of whether or not to appeal District Judge Aileen Cannon’s order to select an independent expert to review the documents found at Trump´s residence on August 8.

In an analysis, such a decision could affect future presidents, paralyze the investigation into alleged mismanagement of U.S. intelligence and give Donald Trump and allies months of opportunities to stoke distrust towards the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Joe Biden Administration.

Yet the Politico newspaper noted Trump´s present situation forced GOPers to be in a cleft stick, as they lobby DOJ to clear up why the search was deemed necessary.

With no clarity on what Trump took out of the White House or how he could compromise the country’s secrets, some Republicans are betting on shielding the former governor and urged Americans to remind about inflation rates under Joe Biden’s administration; while others are raising questions.

“I think this raid was an unconscionable act of political violence,” said Josh Hawley, member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, while adding that Attorney General Merrick Garland and FBI Director Christopher Wray should resign.

In turn, John Cornyn, member of the Upper House Intelligence Committee, said Garland took vigorous steps and created a precedent for allowing DOJ to execute a search warrant against a former president.
