Ecuador’s government, indigenous sector close first technical tables

Ecuador-Mesa-Dialogo
Quito, Sep 9 (Prensa Latina) Ecuador's Government and the indigenous movement on Friday close the first five technical tables of talks, initiated almost two months ago and marked by little progress in terms of concrete agreements.

Those negotiations were resumed this week to reach the desired results by the social sectors.

Targeted fuel subsidies, price control, productive development, natural resources, and public and private banking are some of the issues subject to analysis and pending solutions.

On Thursday, both delegations worked on issues in question to find coincidences and reach a consensus.

As of Monday, September 12, the remaining tables, related to issues such as education, health, and national security, are planned to begin.

The talks began on July 13, as of the Act for Peace signed on June 30, which ended the 18-day national strike, in demand for social and economic improvements.
