Mexico City, Sep 9 (Prensa Latina) Morena, Mexico's ruling party, today expressed satisfaction with the withdrawal in the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) of a proposal to not apply the unofficial pre-trial detention.

This is good news, since it is not possible to annul a constitutional reform that was made in a legal and legitimate manner by representatives of the people, said the leadership of Morena.

Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador’s party expressed that one of the main objectives of the law is to end impunity and it is among the foundations of the reform to Article 19 of the Constitution that Morena made in the Chamber of Deputies regarding the official pre-trial detention.

He added that now crimes such as femicide, home burglary, use of social programs for electoral purposes, sexual violence against minors, corruption, forced disappearance and huachicol are deserving of this judicial figure.

Yesterday the SCJN restarted the vote on the non-application of this type of imprisonment and in the course of the debate its speaker, Minister Luis Maria Aguilar Morales, announced that it was withdrawing its project to reconstruct the proposal in search of a consensus among the 11 magistrates, which so far has not been achieved.
