President Umaro Sissoco highlights brotherhood Cuba-Guinea Bissau (+Photos)

Havana, Sep 9 (Prensa Latina) Umaro Sissoco Embaló, president of Guinea Bissau, highlighted today in this capital the historical ties of brotherhood between his country and Cuba, where he is making an official visit.

Speaking to the press after touring the facilities of the Fidel Castro Ruz Center, the African president highlighted the great importance of this state visit to Cuba with which -he said- we have a history of brotherhood, because in the struggle for liberation the Cubans were with us.

He also considered that his presence at the Fidel Castro Ruz Center is a way to learn more about and honor the leader of the Cuban Revolution.

Precisely, during his tour of the facilities accompanied by its director, René González Barrios, he learned aspects about the life and political and revolutionary actions of Fidel Castro.

Among other aspects, González Barrios informed him that according to studies carried out in that entity, a total of 455 Cubans fought alongside the guerrillas of the African Party for the Independence of Guinea and Cape Verde, founded by Amílcar Cabral to fight for the independence of the then Portuguese colony.

On this day, President Sissoco and his delegation began their activities by placing a floral offering before the monument to the Cuban National Hero José Martí in the Plaza de la Revolución, where he was accompanied by Anayansi Rodríguez, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs and other officials of the chancery.

Later, he held a friendly meeting with some prominent Cuban internationalist combatants, in which the strong ties of solidarity between the two peoples and the special ties established between the comrades-in-arms of both peoples were reiterated.

Sissoco Embaló arrived in Havana on Thursday on an official visit and was received at the Palace of the Revolution by President Miguel Díaz-Canel, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, with whom he held official talks.

For this day he also plans a visit to the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology of this capital, an emblematic entity of science on the island and will conclude his official visit tomorrow.
