DPRK nuclear forces, defense activated against threats

DPRK nuclear forces, defense activated against threats

Pyongyang, Sep 10 (Prensa Latina) The Democratic People's Republic of Korea is relying on nuclear armed forces as a powerful means to prevent war and defend the country's sovereignty in the face of growing threats against the DPRK, according to its legislation.

The Supreme People’s Assembly of the Asian country recently enacted a law that establishes its mechanisms taking into account the responsible and efficient use by Democratic Korea of this type of weapon for defensive purposes and against specific targets in case of aggression from abroad, KCNA reported.

Its main objective is to discourage the renunciation of an attempted attack on the DPRK due to the serious consequences that could befall hostile forces in their efforts to carry out a military confrontation.

If a confrontation becomes unavoidable, the DPRK will make use of its nuclear potential, composed of bombs, along with its means of transport of various types, command and control system, as well as troops, equipment and operational facilities to repel aggression.

DPRK State Affairs Chairman Kim Jong Un has the sole decision-making power over the nuclear arsenal and will be advised by a group of experts appointed by the DPRK leader himself in all processes involving nuclear weapons.

In the event that there is an imminent threat by the DPRK’s nuclear weapons controls falling into enemy hands, there will be an immediate strike of this kind against the attackers, the legislation states.

According to the new law, Pyongyang will also activate this type of response when it is necessary to stop the expansion and prolongation of a war being waged on its territory to seize control.
