Hezbollah condemns US interference in Lebanon’s presidential election

Beirut, Sep 12 (Prensa Latina) The member of the Hezbollah Central Council, Sheikh Nabil Qaouk, condemned the interference of the United States in the presidential elections in Lebanon amidst the country's worst economic and financial crisis.

The leader of the Lebanese Islamic Resistance denounced during a ceremony in the town of Husseiniya, in the city of Maaroub, that US interference threatens national unity.

Nabil Qaouk stressed that the Lebanese require a President of the Republic that constitutes an opportunity to save the country, stop deterioration, address crises and alleviate the suffering of citizens.

He stated that resistance has a decisive role in strengthening borders and rights, preserving dignity and wealth as the first factor of power against Israeli and American ambitions.

Hezbollah, he said, is on an upward path militarily, politically and popularly and rejected the complicity of politicians, parties and diplomats to attack the resistance from the back.

The people expect tangible solutions and treatments for the current crisis, and Hezbollah is not in a bystander’s position and is working to overcome obstacles in favor of the formation of a new government, Nabil Qaouk further said.

According to analysts, the failure to form a cabinet since the re-election of Najib Miqati as prime minister last June, the fragmentation in Parliament, the continuous strikes in the public sector and the worsening of the crisis hinder the appointment of the Lebanese president.
