Russia warns Germany over lethal weapon supply to Ukraine

Moscow, Sept 12 (Prensa Latina) Russia´s ambassador to Germany, Sergey Nechaev, said that the supply of German-made lethal weapons to the Ukrainian regime is the 'red line' that the authorities in Berlin should not cross.

Germany must take into account its moral and historical responsibility before the Russian people for the Nazi crimes committed during the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945), Nechaev told the Izvestia neswpaper today.

Nechaev also pointed out that supplying Kiev with weapons in compliance with the demands of the Anglo-Saxon allies ‘is a road that leads nowhere’.

German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht, speaking earlier in the Bundestag (Parliament), said that the country sent a lot of weapons from its army reserves to Ukraine and these shipments have reached their destinations.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz also said earlier that Berlin supplies enough military equipment to Kiev.

Russia earlier sent a warning to NATO countries regarding arms supplies to Ukraine.

Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, stated that any shipment containing weapons for Ukraine will become a legitimate target for the Russian Armed Forces, as well as pointed out that NATO countries ‘are playing with fire’ by supplying war material to Kiev.

For his part, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the West’s policy of nurturing Ukraine with weapons does not contribute to the success of Russian-Ukrainian negotiations and will only have a negative effect.
