Cuban FM expresses condolences to Papua New Guinea due to earthquake

Havana, Sep 13 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez on Tuesday expressed condolences to the people and Government of Papua New Guinea due to the 7.6 magnitude earthquake on Richter's scale that hit that country.

On his Twitter account, the foreign minister offered his condolences and ratified Cuba’s solidarity with the relatives of the deceased and victims.

Governmental sources from Papua New Guinea have reported seven dead and several injured due to the earthquake and the number of casualties is expected to increase in the next hours.

The United States Geological Survey reported that the earthquake’s epicenter was located in the southwest Pacific region on September 11, and was 116 kilometers deep.

Earthquakes are very frequent in Papua New Guinea, where a deadly 7.5 magnitude earthquake struck in February 2018, killing at least 75 people and injuring more than 300 others, according to several sources.
