Police investigate threats against Chilean MPs

Santiago de Chile, Sep 13 (Prensa Latina) Chilean police are investigating a series of threats sent by e-mail against parliamentarians to force them to stop the constituent process.

The regional prosecutor of Valparaiso, Claudia Perivanich, ordered the first investigations to the Cybercrime Brigade of the Investigative Police (PDI).

Last weekend the legislators received in their institutional emails messages in which they were demanded to stop promoting the process towards a new Magna Carta, after the rejection of a proposal in the referendum of September 4.

As part of the investigation, as of this Tuesday, the Secretary General of the Senate, Raúl Guzmán, several legislators and computer experts of the National Congress will give their version to the PDI.

The Police must also obtain the captures of the e-mails in order to identify the IP of the computer used and the identity of the sender.

As the 49th anniversary of the coup d’état against Salvador Allende’s government was commemorated this September 11, President Gabriel Boric promised that the country will advance towards a Constitution written in democracy.

‘We are working together with the parliament to unite the necessary wills and reach agreements that will allow us to outline that future in the short term’, Boric said.
